Why does the media only care about a shooting if the shooter is white?

Please media hiw about you report on a shooting in Chicago where a jackass opened fire at a party. Oh wait that doesn't fit your hate speech.

People see gang violence as fundamentally different than a nutbag going to a mall to kill innocent people he's never met - doubly so if it's a politically motivated act of terror. It's pretty easy to see why if you think about it.

@Tiredandlonely People still die, yes, and many are bystanders. But it's a motive we understand and are more comfortable with, just how it is. Even though there is a lot more violence of this type, we're better at ignoring it - and the illusion of control helps too. Most of us don't have to worry about getting caught up in a gang altercation because we don't associate with any gang members. But that's different when it's a mall or a school getting shot up.

Funny thing is that traditional gun control measures are a hell of a lot better at restricting low level criminals than the occasional determined insane dude. But noooooo, can't have that.
