Not a question: Notification, US House of Representatives voting now on a resolution to oppose the BDS boycott bill.

What is BDS?
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement works to end international support for Israel's oppression of Palestinians and pressure Israel to comply with international law.

The government should not restrict the political freedom of the people.

@SW-User Neither should Congress attempt to force the American people to participate in the wars of the middle East via boycotts, nor should they force us to try to harm one country in favor of another.

@4meAndyou what is this sanctioning Iran all about? What if I want to vacation there? It is a beautiful country, regardless of politics.

@SW-User I believe it has something to do with a US drone being shot down in International waters. We were all set to bomb the hell out of them in response, but Trump thought better of that response, and instead applied some very severe financial sanctions.

If you are a US citizen you should be aware that a level four travel advisory has been posted for Iran.

@4meAndyou I know. Sanctioning is one thing short of war, but close to a seige, which is war.
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User It is, indeed, a precursor to war, without putting troops on the ground.

@4meAndyou prudence says the US is not capable of winning such a war, if one can even define winning in today's world.

@SW-User All we want from Iran...and I mean ALL we want...is for their leader to come to the bargaining table so we can renegotiate their nuclear agreement.
SW-User
@4meAndyou the agreement we had was by far better than no agreement. Why quit when all you want is to renegotiate?
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User I will be speculating, because I can't know Trump's mind, but I would give an educated guess that it was because the Iranians continued to enrich uranium under the old agreement, and never even made the attempt to purchase it, which is what other countries do. The only reason to continue uranium enrichment at this level is to build a nuclear bomb. They are publicly boasting now that they have exceeded the uranium enrichment cap levels of the old agreement.

The Iranians also blocked all attempts by the arbiters and inspectors to view their enrichment facilities. It was obvious they were hiding something.

Obama paid Iran a boatload of cash in an attempt to appease them, and it didn't work. Iran is or was one of the major supporters of global terrorist organizations during that period of time.

@4meAndyou I read all that in the paper. It still doesn't justify war.

@SW-User Let us hope and pray that we do not go to war over it. But Iran certainly should not be shooting down drones in International air space.
SW-User
@4meAndyou very true.
