Do you believe that the United States is a great nation.

Over the past few years there has been almost a sport team rivalry between people who think that the US is a great nation and people who think that it’s not so great.

What are your thoughts on America?

Very few people think that America isn’t great. In general, people tend to disagree about how to make it greater, and the best ways to live up to the ideals it was founded on.

Ok, the MAGA set thinks America isn’t great, but they’re a confused and intellectually limited set of people.

@QuixoticSoul MAGA is ridiculous, it sets the notion that we should roll up our collective sleeves and make the country great the way it was. But what is the time frame for "was" ?

@MarmeeMarch That’s just the start of the problem with the whole thing.

Funny thing is that many periods these people fondly look back on were either bloody awful for people like themselves - or would be branded as straight socialism by today’s rightoids.

@QuixoticSoul I dont mind looking back in time when I was growing up - and thinking of the good things, places and people that gave be a very nice childhood - to young manhood. But I take exception to the idea that America is not great all of a sudden and it has not been great for a long time and that we need to do something. Exactly what ?
