Republicans will call any Democratic nominee a socialist

even the most moderate democratic candidate will be blamed a socialist, might aswell go all in and go with a candidate that can motivate all those people disappointed by political games.

The US is the country where people seriously believed Obama was a communist. Political literacy is no better now then it was decades ago. My parents were in Colorado in 78-79 and people believed Canada was communist because of healthcare.

I’m going to disagree with the idea that the Democrats should give up the middle and go hard left. One of the main reasons Trump won in 2016 is that the Democrats ran someone who was an untenable choice for a lot of people in the middle and someone who motivated a lot of them to vote against her as much if not more than for him.

Trump is doing the Democrats a tremendous favor by racing so far and hard to the right. He’s leaving the middle wide open. The only way the Democrats can blow this as it currently stands is if they nominate someone who is so far left on key issues that centrists can’t follow them there.

If the Democratic candidate lands on decriminalized border crossings and/or full elimination of private health insurance, they’ll alienate the independents and moderates they need to win. Trump continues to paint himself into a tighter and tighter corner as he becomes more outlandish. The best way to smother him and keep him in that corner is to pull moderates and centrists away who voted for him with clothespins on their noses last time.

Not even true. Because not all the Democrats that were running are socialists. Those are 2 different things. Kamala Harris is a Democrat, but I don't consider her a socialist. I would say she is an authoritarian.
