A new scandal in L.A.. IKR? Do they really need another one? See below:

Source was Shannon Bream news on Fox late last night. No link available yet.

The Sheriff's Department in L.A. now has an internal gang of police officers called The Banditos. They have their own special tattoo. They are stating that they are not a gang, they are a club, but their behavior is that of a gang.

If their brother officers do not join their gang, they are targeted for violence. One gang member who holds a job as a police officer severely beat a fellow officer for attempting to report them.

Gang police members have even gone so far as secretly removing the shells from the guns of non-gang member officers in hopes that they will be killed in the line of duty. If a non-gang police officer calls for back-up, the gang police officers refuse to show up as back up.

The lawyer for the non-gang police officer who was beaten states that L.A. can not handle this or deal with it in any way, and suggests that the FBI will have to be called in to control the situation.

You're not finding anything because you or Shannon Bream have the story wrong. The 'Banditos' are members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department - not the LAPD. But cliques are nothing new in large law enforcement groups.

I'd guess this article from yesterday's LA Times was the source for FOX's story.

@hlpflwthat I apologize. Usually if I post I double check my story against an article to be sure it is accurate, but I really do thank you for the correction and the link.

@4meAndyou I think if you read this you'll see that this is not at all a 'new scandal' as much as FOX might wish it so. The current incident started back in September.

@hlpflwthat Wow! First I have heard of it! I have a friend here who is a former police supervisor, and I think of other police or sheriff's office officers as being similar sorts of people...good intentioned, sensitive, intelligent and kind.

It almost hurts me physically thinking about people working in such a field where you have to trust your lives to one another, and they are going to turn around and stab you in the back or try to get you killed.

It would be like being a soldier, and knowing your fellow soldiers were trying to shoot you.
