-Concern about outsourcing and loss of manufacturing jobs
-Fear of economic decline
-Dissatisfaction with the Affordable Care Act
-Fear of illegal immigration and violent crime
-Fear of lost intellectual freedoms/identity politics
-Fear of corporate lobbying

That's not to say I agree with or disagree with all of these reasons. It's just observation.

@BlueVeins i also saw a really interesting article about how increased adoption of internet and social media created an 'awakening' in Trumps base - they felt attacked and believed Trump would swing the pendulum the other way in their favor.
