The Court decided that a situation similar to North Carolina, where for the past four elections Republicans and Democrats have had roughly equal numbers of voters, yet Republicans get a 10-3 majority of the congressional seats, is fine from a federal perspective. That's obviously not how democracy is supposed to work, but the Supreme Court abdicated their responsibility by a single vote. The net result is that right now, Democrats need to win a 54-46% majority of the votes nationwide to end up with equal numbers of congressional seats. Republicans can get well less than half of the votes and have a big majority of the seats.

@Picklebobble2 In every way. It also shows you just how unpopular Trump is, because the House went from a large majority of Republicans to a Democratic majority, despite the built-in big Republican advantage.

@Zonuss The Russians flooded social media with disinformation for which they are famous. Undoubtedly some people responded to the flood of negativity by changing their votes to Trump. Did this change the election results? There is no way to tell. But 70,000 votes out of 125,000,000 gave Trump his victory, so it is very plausible that their disinformation campaign made the difference.

If we ignore this as a nation, which Trump is doing, it could allow Russia to interfere again.

It’s not so much as influencing people to vote FOR Trump, as it was simply depressing turnout altogether by creating distrust in his opponent. So people not inclined to vote for Trump simply didn’t vote.

For example, Trump won Wisconsin with less votes than Romney had in losing it to Obama in ‘12. So it was all about depressing Democratic turnout.

The narratives “all politicians are the same” and “my vote doesn’t matter” are to the absolute benefit of the GOP in general. @Zonuss

@luckranger71 Good point. Many people were turned off by both candidates and didn't vote. Some would have voted for Clinton if not for the disinformation. One of my personal friends in a swing state did exactly that (he is now rabidly anti-Trump as he has seen what Trump has done).

@ChadFord So, what you're saying, is that the leftist media hired actors to play Trump, Putin and the other world leaders, created a mockup of the G20 summit location, hired a bunch more actors to play reporters, and then faked the exchange between Trump and Putin, as well as the pictures with MBS?
