Fanatics on both sides. US army is again far from home. They should stay in their own neighborhood

Not if sane people refuse to fight in it.

@kingkyri They're the ones driving this insane policy and they might just be the ones called upon to do the fighting.
Ynotisay · M
I think it hinges on the polls.
IMO, this is a made up situation by a President looking for cover.

@LegendofPeza I think you're right. Iran is different. And while I NEVER thought I'd say this, I tend to believe Iran in relation to that drone being shot down. With Bolton and his gang there I wouldn't put anything past them.
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@Ynotisay A British political commentator remarked the other night , that for the first time that he could recall , western allies of the US were treating their version of events as less credible than those coming out of Iran. That's where we are now , and if Trump thought that he had total immunity from the consequences of his lies then he should be at least waking up to the uncomfortable truth now that he doesn't.
Ynotisay · M
@LegendofPeza Doesn't surprise me. He's thrown our allies under the bus and what he says is not taken seriously any longer. When/If something very serious goes down that's going to be a real problem.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
Of course not. It's just Trump trying to distract us from his crimes. Iran may be a horrible place to live but they aren't our enemy.
bijouxbroussard · F
With Trump the only thing inevitable is lies, confusion, deflection and general chaos. 😒
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
One could argue that we've been in a sort of war for 40 yrs....doesn't just have to be guns and mortar to be a war. I'd classify "sanctions" as a form of economic warfare.
Nope. Very few things are inevitable.

What Trump proved, with his tirade this morning, is that he's about as good a demagogue as Iran's demagogues. This is the kind of language I expect from the Mullahs and despots, not the President of the USA.
The US military will not obey illegal orders, and these threats of "obliteration" would be illegal, if carried out. Some rednecks and idiots, are itching for war, but the GOP leadership is not that crazy.

@LegendofPeza This is what Trump would have us believe, but we already know his story was total bullshit.
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@Northwest And that's the thing isn't it ? He's such a pathological liar that nobody knows what's going on , and that includes the people advising him.
Northwest · M
@LegendofPeza Unfortunately, this is the case. To kill 150 people, even if the drone was over international waters, would not be an acceptable response, in an international court of law.
Yes, I get it, we can obliterate them, but will Russia, China and the rest of the world stand by? I am thinking about our military and why this idiot would put them in harm's way.
It's not like I don't trust our intelligence agencies, it's the guy presenting the stuff that I don't trust, as up until now, no one has produced the smoking gun. Iran, on the other hand, has produced most of the actual drone that was shot down, and retrieved from its territorial waters, as well GPS coordinates of where it was, when it was hit, and the coordinates of the manned spy plan, with dozens onboard, that was not targeted with Iranian fire.
I never thought I would say this, but there's more reason to trust the Mullahs, over Trump.
And, as I said, why is he having trouble getting any of our allies, to publicly agree with this assessment?

War is always evitable.
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@Evened ' no one is ever forced to start a war.' - unless that was the intention all along.
Evened · 51-55, M
@LegendofPeza I agree, but then diplomacy is just foreplay and pointless anyway. But that's the circular argumentation again. If it's intended, there was a reason and then you can ask again what is the reason. 🤷♂️
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@Evened The only discernible reason is Trump's pathological desire to tear down all his predecessor's accomplishments. His policy makes no sense by any other measure.

@RippinKlouds Israel will then wipe Iran off the face of the earth.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
No. Trump is heading into 2020. He does not want to go to war with anyone unless he is stupid. 🙂
