Is a war with Iran now inevitable ?

What Trump proved, with his tirade this morning, is that he's about as good a demagogue as Iran's demagogues. This is the kind of language I expect from the Mullahs and despots, not the President of the USA.

The US military will not obey illegal orders, and these threats of "obliteration" would be illegal, if carried out. Some rednecks and idiots, are itching for war, but the GOP leadership is not that crazy.

@Northwest Hasn't he already given himself an excuse to bypass Congress ?

@RodionRomanovitch Yes he has, but it's doubtful it would hold up in a crimes of war trial.

He has not managed to convince a single ally, and some of them want to be convinced, that Iran shot down the US drone in international space. If he issues an order to kill people and attack another country, without producing evidence that US citizens were harmed, and that order did not pass Congressional scrutiny, service members have the right to question that order.

@Northwest They were ready to attack just a couple of days ago. I'd love to think some might resist an illegal call to attack but I doubt it somehow.

@RodionRomanovitch This is what Trump would have us believe, but we already know his story was total bullshit.

@Northwest And that's the thing isn't it ? He's such a pathological liar that nobody knows what's going on , and that includes the people advising him.

@RodionRomanovitch Unfortunately, this is the case. To kill 150 people, even if the drone was over international waters, would not be an acceptable response, in an international court of law.

Yes, I get it, we can obliterate them, but will Russia, China and the rest of the world stand by? I am thinking about our military and why this idiot would put them in harm's way.

It's not like I don't trust our intelligence agencies, it's the guy presenting the stuff that I don't trust, as up until now, no one has produced the smoking gun. Iran, on the other hand, has produced most of the actual drone that was shot down, and retrieved from its territorial waters, as well GPS coordinates of where it was, when it was hit, and the coordinates of the manned spy plan, with dozens onboard, that was not targeted with Iranian fire.

I never thought I would say this, but there's more reason to trust the Mullahs, over Trump.

And, as I said, why is he having trouble getting any of our allies, to publicly agree with this assessment?
