Why is it that people with kids get 5,000 dollar income tax check?

But, people like me who are single pay more in taxes and get a 300 income tax check.

News flash it actually costs more to raise kids and there is more long term value in supporting families then single guys. There is not scenario where what you suggest makes sense.

no one is telling you to have kids
@PsychoMantis: And I suppose you are totally cool with a complete demographic collapse because you are butthurt?
PsychoMantis · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: Demographic collapse what a fucking utter lie.
@PsychoMantis: That is total bs. Japan and most European countries will be screwed when the baby boomers die off. There are already predictions of economic collapse from it in Japan and Italy to the point that Italy in a desperate attempt to curb the negative birth rate even started a fertility festival this year.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: I don't care for predictions since they are predictions and the markets will regulate themselves because of the invisible hand we can thank technology.
@PsychoMantis: They are predictions based on facts. Does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that a massive labour shortage will cause economic problems. And sorry but you believe in fantasy and wishful thinking if you believe that.
PsychoMantis · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: Massive laborer shortage can also be supplemented by technology. but, I do have a problem with people that get huge tax returns and people living better off than someone who is single and taxed the shit out.
@PsychoMantis: Technology is not a magical solution for everything which you seem to think it is. This is real life not irobot. We cannot manufacture artificial people. I also think if you are going to make references to thinks like the invisible hand to pretend you know what you are talking about at least get the context right. I see the real problem is your sense of entitlement.
PsychoMantis · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorro I know what the invisible hand is they discussed it in economic class, Adam Smith coined it and Noam Chomsky gives a good definition of the invisible hand too.
@PsychoMantis: Well you clearly completely missed the context in which Adam Smith used it.
PsychoMantis · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: I said Adam Smith coined the invisible hand, but people will give you different meanings.
@PsychoMantis: True and most of them have misused it ever since Smith. Did you actually read Wealth of Nations?
PsychoMantis · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: I read few chapters but I stop reading 7 years ago and I no longer have the book to continue to read it. But, I still remember some stuff.
PsychoMantis · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: but really I do have something against people getting 5,000 dollar tax returns, getting welfare and living a better life than somebody that works and can barely pay rent, or pay for a car. While the other welfare moochers live luxury.
@PsychoMantis: I recommend getting a copy and reading Das Capital too. It is a good foundation on economics. Don't waste your time on neo classical bs. :)

Long story short you invest in families for the same reasons you invest in education. Hate to say it but in the big picture single bachelors are not as important to the nation as a whole so it makes no practical sense to do what you suggest no matter how many people feel their feelings are hurt.
