News flash it actually costs more to raise kids and there is more long term value in supporting families then single guys. There is not scenario where what you suggest makes sense.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: I read few chapters but I stop reading 7 years ago and I no longer have the book to continue to read it. But, I still remember some stuff.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: but really I do have something against people getting 5,000 dollar tax returns, getting welfare and living a better life than somebody that works and can barely pay rent, or pay for a car. While the other welfare moochers live luxury.

@PsychoMantis: I recommend getting a copy and reading Das Capital too. It is a good foundation on economics. Don't waste your time on neo classical bs. :)
Long story short you invest in families for the same reasons you invest in education. Hate to say it but in the big picture single bachelors are not as important to the nation as a whole so it makes no practical sense to do what you suggest no matter how many people feel their feelings are hurt.

Government's worldwide encourage nuclear family structures for the sake of social stability and population growth, both of which are in any government's direct interest. Even overpopulated nations prefer having a fresh young workforce, and so are not opposed to population growth.

because there aren't enough single voters out there to demand fair treatment, if politicians thought they would lose votes over paying people to have kids then they would quit doing it.

Because... We dont spend as much money in the society. So we have to suffer by paying more.

Actually if you making 10 dollars and hour and only get a 300 dollar income tx check that is bullshit.

@PsychoMantis: The government owes you nothing in the way of money, nor are they responsible for your salary. Whatever your check amount is, it's more than zero.

People with family are more interesting for the state, they protest less.
