There is no logical reason why any class of criminal should not be prosecuted and sentenced appropriately; in this case a jail sentence followed by deportation.
And if anyone want to dispute the label of "criminal" the individual earned that title by breaking in.

@redredred Prosecutors use their discretion as to what to prosecute and not all the time. If you want them to spend your tax dollars jailing tens of thousands of people who illegally cross the border-- that's nice. How about just deportation.

@CopperCicada In unaware of prosecutorial discretion being extended to entire classes of criminal. Presently, it seems impossible to deport invaders withour some judicial proceeding.

@redredred Prosecutorial discretion is used all the time because jurisdictions have limited resources.

@redredred Yes, let's call it what it is - a misdemeanor offense not worthy of jail time at all. Then let's stop using terms like 'them,' 'immigrants' and 'illegals.' These are people whose offense wasn't jacking someone's purse or endangering drivers on the road or destroying valuable property...it was crossing an imaginary line in hopes of a better life.

@redredred While we're at it why don't we add the other 80% of serious crime victims who are all victimized by American-born citizens. The threat of 'foreign crime' has been with us since well before the turn of the century and it's a tried-and-true fear-mongering technique. Congratulations on swallowing it whole.

@redredred We don’t typically pail people for misdemeanor crimes.

@redredred The quickest way to stop illegal immigration is to stop their illegal employment. Since employing an illegal immigrant involves tax and labor violations, not to mention a threat to American security-- how about minimum mandatory federal imprisonment for American citizens who employ them?

@CopperCicada I agree 100%
