What kind of leader uses fear tactics to rally his "base?"

What kind of "base" is so easy to manipulate with fear?

Similar tactics being used in the UK these days.
A government terrified they may actually be held responsible for their actions have been creating scare stories "If you make us leave the EU this is what might happen" cue photos of people queuing outside empty shops. 'Urchin' children looking up at their parents pleading for food etc.

Shameful it really is

The thing is, that's a scary possibility. Several large firms have already left the UK, three is no provision for maximum 24 hour food imports if the UK pulls out with no trade agreements. none.

@HerKing What would that say about successive governments who PUT us in THAT position ?
WHY would ANY government ALLOW that situation to occur ?

You'd be forever at the mercy of your supplier wouldn't you ?

@Picklebobble2 Without getting into the weeds, Cameron's bluff was called, he should never have called a referendum until all the scenarios were outlined using facts rather than the lying bullshit used by Johnson, Farage and Gove. Some actually believed when they voted it was simply a 'warning shot' at the government and negotiable rather than a binary choice of in/out.

Being at the mercy of the supplier? Well again, where did we see Messers, Farage, Gove and Johnson present what would happen all the EU dependent firms and services decided that instead of 'waiting and seeing', got out of the UK? Answer, we didn't. It's a total clusterfuck and I genuinely fear for the outcome.

@HerKing Cameron was a moron. No Prime Minister had EVER before THREATENED Parliament. And the arrogance of the man to think a nation would support him and effectively subvert Parliament tells you all you need to know about that man !

Farage is not a Politician. He's a lobbyist. Quite who he thinks his shenanigans play up to is a question. But to me he behaves as though he is the mouthpiece for an organization yet to reveal itself.
One of the reasons why the government is currently trying to find out who is funding him !

Yes there are lots of EU dependent companies. But so far i've yet to see why anything there should change. There may well be tariffs. There may well be delays. But ultimately the EU know that jobs on both sides of the Chunnel rely on a degree of co-operation since they have people to keep employed too !

As for the companies leaving or THREATENING to leave, you have to ask is this a direct result of leaving the EU or is it posturing on behalf of companies in troubled times trying to get economic or financial benefit from the UK in saying THEY'LL STAY ?

Many have left because there is no decision so they're cutting their losses. The CBI issued a statement that was jointly signed by several firms effectively telling the government to go and sing if they wanted regulations to be implemented because they couldn't spare the staff who were pre-occupied in working various scenarios in the event of a pull out with/without a deal with the EU. BMW Mini have already expressed their departure I believe.

@HerKing certainly a poor move from Government. If you want as much stability as possible you have to keep business updated with where you are what your intentions are. Quite what they seem to be holding out for is a question.
Companies don't know whether to hire or fire and move out.
People don't know whether to take a punt and travel to Europe while they still have passports to do so for work within the union. And there questions even then as to whether they'd be allowed to stay once the UK withdraws.
Stupid state of affairs.

@Picklebobble2 My best friend back in England; Her sister and family have lived in Austria since the kids were very small, the eldest is about 26 now. I don't think they have a clue what they'll do, they've only really known living there, friends, jobs, university etc.

@HerKing I said to my kids about ten years ago, get out while you can. They're looking at emigrating.
They all have skills they can use elsewhere in trades
