The "Socialist moment" was the twentieth century when the hundred year long socialist experiment resulted in a hundred million civilians murdered by their own socialist governments.

the National Socialists of Germany murdered 12 million of their own citizens, The Soviet Socialist murdered forty million of their own citizens and the Sino Socialists of China murdered sixty million of their own citizens. You can add a few more million from cambodia, cuba, north korea, east germany and many others.@JP1119

@redredred The Nazis were most definitely not socialists in spite of their name, in fact they were right wing. I don’t know as much about the Soviet Socialists or the Sino Socialists, but I’m guessing those were both communist groups, which again is nothing like the socialism that is working so well in the Nordic countries or that is being advocated by American progressives today. None of the groups you mentioned are.

They instituted full national employment, nationwide minimum wage, wage and price controls, nationwide gun control, national control of all industries, universal old age pension, universal free college education, universal health insuranceand free day care. How is that not socialism?
And you say you know nothing of soviet socialism or Chinese Socialism? Then you know nothing about socialism. The tiny nordic countries are only able to pretend to be socialist because for seventy years the US has borne the bulk of their defence budgets.

@redredred If by National Socialists you mean the Nazis, they did not institute nationwide gun control, I know that’s a lie. They may have confiscated guns from Jews, but for everyone else gun laws were relaxed.

Hitler confiscated all firearms from Jews and gentiles alike in Germany. You may be too young to know first hand what the western world was like just after WWII and too disinterested to do any research but those loving socialists in the USSR had aims on all of Europe and only decades of US provided protection prevented the Iron Curtain from starting in the Irish Sea.@JP1119
