They instituted full national employment, nationwide minimum wage, wage and price controls, nationwide gun control, national control of all industries, universal old age pension, universal free college education, universal health insuranceand free day care. How is that not socialism?

And you say you know nothing of soviet socialism or Chinese Socialism? Then you know nothing about socialism. The tiny nordic countries are only able to pretend to be socialist because for seventy years the US has borne the bulk of their defence budgets.

@redredred If by National Socialists you mean the Nazis, they did not institute nationwide gun control, I know that’s a lie. They may have confiscated guns from Jews, but for everyone else gun laws were relaxed.

What weapons or defense do the Nordic countries [i]need[/i] that the US supposedly has had to pay for? Maybe not trying to play world policeman would free up more money for programs that actually help its people.

Hitler confiscated all firearms from Jews and gentiles alike in Germany. You may be too young to know first hand what the western world was like just after WWII and too disinterested to do any research but those loving socialists in the USSR had aims on all of Europe and only decades of US provided protection prevented the Iron Curtain from starting in the Irish Sea.@JP1119
