I think Trump is trying to deescalate tensions and denuclearize N.K. He is trying to talk face to face with the guy. Calling him names is not helping. The US has spent 69 years at war with North Korea, we have tried stonewalling, refusing to talk to them, being blackmailed into giving them nuclear technology and equipment (Clinton) in return for them not weaponizing it (how did that turn out?) Biden's administration did nothing to slow down their weapon development and work on long range missiles capable of carry those weapons. In fact they developed and test fired some that can reach the US.
There have been no long range tests since Trump opened dialogue. That is more then Clinton, Bush II, or Obama/Biden accomplished. In fact the N.K's first failed nuke test was in 2006 and all subsequent successful nuke and long range missile tests were under Obama/Biden's watch. What they did for their 8 years accomplished NOTHING.
I don't know what will happen. I don't trust the N.K.'s However since 1954 there has been a steady buildup of military forces in N.K. and nuclear weapons...under everybody's watch. Accelerated since the end of the cold war left the N.K's feeling naked not trusting the USSR's umbrella.
So far there has been no escalation of nuclear or long range tests. I don't have a lot of hope for bringing N.K. into the fold of civilized nations short of all out war. I do know that what everyone has tried for some 69 years has not worked. We know the "Biden Way" didn't work. I hope Trump does better. So far he has.
