British Politics Are Getting Dangerous

Britain really is in a situation where if someone disagrees with you, "you're a fascist, therefor it's okay to throw bricks at you, as one day you may become a Nazi". That really is a genuine thought by some people in my country, this increasing joke of a country. To other nationstates, please see Britain as a warning of tolerating political violence and the fringe left.

Sadly it’s not only the fringe left. The liberal establishment (which includes some Conservatives) regards some opinions as beyond the pale [interesting historical metaphor]. Indeed some opinions are banned by law!

@MartinII Which opinions do you think are banned?
MartinII · 70-79, M
@cunningcrocodile Racist opinions and so-called “hate crimes” (actually, expressing objectionable opinions about ethnic or other groups) are the most obvious examples.

@MartinII Ah, I was never actually sure if hate crimes were a punishable thing in the US. Over here, a "hate crime" seems to be a view about a certain group that is convenient for the establishment to censor at that time

@cunningcrocodile Just to be clear, I’m talking about the UK.
cunningcrocodile · 31-35, F
@MartinII Ah, then yes that does make sense. And I'm sure you'd then agree with what I just described.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@cunningcrocodile Yes, but as I say, I think you are wrong to regard the fringe left as the only, or even the main, culprits.

@MartinII Just look at Burnley123's responses on here. All he feels he has to do is merely give his opponents a label and then attacking people he disagrees with is a-okay.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@cunningcrocodile While I disagree with Burnley 123’s politics, I think he usually expresses himself in a fair way, and I enjoy debating with him.

@MartinII Possibly with you. But he comes on to to my posts at exactly the same time after Iv'e posted, always in disagreement, regardless of what my opinion is. To the point that he's calling 2+2=4 irrational. Literally, in my last post, I was stating that I'm against political censorship and violence, regardless of who was doing it - and he claimed that I was being illogical.
