@OggggO Slavery was not the main issue of the civil war. The slavery issue was actually very convenient for the north because it is the only thing that lent nobility to their part in the war between the states. The civil war was about economics and political control, and "Freeing the slaves" was a politically expedient spin for northern historians. It was a horrible war that had to happen, and social evolution is the best result of that war, but most of those blue coats didn't give a rat's ass about slavery, and the north's general treatment of southern civilians was every bit as deplorable as the behavior of southern soldiers. If we want be all emotional about everything then statues of Grant and especially Custer need to be removed every bit as much as statues of Lee or Jackson.
