Thanks, Trump, for vetoing a bill passed by both the House and Senate to stop American support of the Saudi genocide.

@MethDozer Because we'd be murdering hundreds of thousands of innocent people, violating the Constitution, violating international law, and acting like a rogue nation bent on waging war for our own gain.

@MethDozer And furthermore, the guy who authored the bill is an adamant and devoted supporter of Yemen. I can't speak to the motivations for the other congresspeople who voted for the bill but the guy who drafted it most certainly did it for more than "brownie points."

@MethDozer Yes there absolutely is. We'd need a congressional declaration of war to do so. None of the wars we're currently in have met that.

Although I guess Congress COULD hypothetically declare war on Saudi Arabia and then we'd be clear under US law.

@BlueMetalChick When did I say we should do so without Congress? To be honest if we really wanted to go that route Saudi Arabia has given us justifications several times in the past. More than the nations we did bring it to.

@MethDozer It seemed the idea was "shift the war in Yemen to Saudi Arabia." And the war in Yemen has not been approved by Congress either.

And believe me, as much as I'd love to see the people responsible for my own suffering and the suffering of countless Yemeni innocents get bombed into smithereens, I know that equal numbers of Saudi innocents would die as well, and I can't condone that even though I really, really want to.
