Reparations for slavery is stupid.

@SW-User I consider welfare & other benefits a form of reparations...if people were able to overcome their poverty they don’t need reparations and if not they’ve probably tapped into the benefits by now. A lot of people have been able to get an education since public education is mandatory and if they’ve done well & pushed themself they qualify for scholarships and other forms of aid to help pull themselves out.

@cherokeepatti Well first, I don't consider that reparations. That's more something to help when you fall on hard times. A safety net. Sadly, it is abused.
As for education; in America, the education system is a joke. It basically teaches you how to get a job. They don't learn these things themselves either. The answers are all provided, and most times there is only one acceptable answer (though we know life to be much more subjective).
Some of the most intelligent people never make it through because they see that in the end it's mostly a waste of time.

We have to accept that some simply aren't capable though.
And then you have to consider those who seem useless, but eventually invent something great, or solve some great problem. Maybe they never would without the support in former years.

@SW-User No it’s not. And consider that most “whites” or their ancestors immigrated here after the Civil War. It was the elite that had slaves not the ones who worked on small farms or owned small farms.

@cherokeepatti True, but the elites have been the elites for a very very long time for a reason. Very clever; tricky.
Also, many white people were enslaved as well. It's how a lot of us got here. so I've never cared about anyone spouting off about white people owing them in general.
