@Zonuss if I have more food than you my chances of survival increase and opportunities to mate go up as well. If I have a better weapon I can prevent you from taking my food or my choices of mate. That's just people being people and the truth is that as long as its not detrimental to somebody's healthy, or anyone else's, then a persons lust for possessions is good for the economy. As long as they don't do anything stupid like borrow WAY more money than they could ever pay back.
