The worst kind of people...

they start a statement with "there is evidence for xy" and when you ask them for that evidence they answer with "do your own research".

i am absolutely serious when i say i wish every person that behaves like this in a discussion is culled from existence. nothing of value will be lost.
true.. those people are assholes.
The ones who make a point and tell you to do what they did in order to understand the point they are trying to make enough to refute it with your own arguments. When in all reality you are trying to make their lecture into a conversation.

I agree. Very frustrating. It's like going into a shop and wanting to buy a widget, and the shopkeeper says, "Make it yourself." What?! You offered to sell me a widget, and you want me to buy a widget, but now you expect me to make it myself?! Same with an opinion; you want me to buy your opinion, but you want me to waste my time doing the research you should have done to back up your opinion! Give me at least one independent, credible source to back up your opinion and I *may* buy it. Otherwise the opinion is worthless and I won't buy it.

That depends. Sometime people dive in an argument with only their preconceived notions and don't even scratch the surface of their opponent's point of view and like every debate there are some basic themes that come around every time and if they can't even know the basics of where their opponent is coming from it's too tedious to explain every time.

That seems a bit harsh.
"there is evidence for xy" and "do your own research"
...loosely translates to "I copied and pasted that BS from a Google search and now you're just making me looking bad."

The onus is on the person making the claim, to provide evidence to back up said claim. If they know it's true, they should be able to provide evidence, it's simple.

It's not the person that is bad but the action. We all have our moments where we make people want to wish us away. Nobody is perfect

Strong stuff!
