No.
Socialism = slavery
When government controls what you can / can not have - they control YOU.

Is not the government in the US our own government?

I understand your point. I truly do.

But shouldn’t there be a way to hold the government accountable to us?

@Budwick
@Budwick All governments control what the citizens can have. Socialist or non.

I can't grow cannabis, peyote, mushrooms. I can't import or breed certain animals and plants. I can't be off grid in my state. I can't broadcast in certain parts of the radio spectrum at all, or without a license. I can't drive a vehicle or live in a dwelling that doesn't meet certain specifications. I can't sell raw milk. I can't not get vaccinated if I want certain jobs. I can't kill certain animals, as pests, or for sport. I can't burn leaves or garbage. I can't discharge certain things into the water or into the air.

Sure. that's government control.

None of that is socialism as none of it has to do with government control of production.

Yes.

Good.

Generally speaking VOTING holds government officials responsible. I think we'll soon see other ways government officials are held accountable when all the bad players in the stupid Russia investigation are indicted.
