From what I see, people are either overly attached to, or adverse to, either free market or statist solutions. It seems sensible. In a time and place are there reasonable market solutions-- or not?
Demanding only free market or only statist solutions is like having a tool box with only phillips screw drivers because one likes those. Good luck with that.
By the time statist socialist solutions are on the table-- it's long a signal that the market is not providing solutions.
Healthcare is an example. I have some means, insurance-- and care is ridiculous. It's inefficient, costly, poor quality. Even for services paid in cash. And a great many people I know don't even have that.
So. OK. Market-- step up. Can't do it? OK. Let's see a socialist solution. Really don't like that?-- OK, markets, step up.
