Why do some people believe Socialism is the way forward when it has never worked?

@puck61 Pretty much all. Canada is strictly a free enterprise democracy but we regularly get called socialists. Republicans regularly liken anything given to the poor as an evil socialist agenda. It often seems like Americans are brainwashed with 1950s anti-communist propaganda from birth. Not all.

@PrivatePeeks Communism is closer to anarchy than it is to socialism, but I am one of those who believes socialism is about the stupidest idea in history. I consider the US politicians push for socialism in this country no less than an all out attack and high treason. If Americans allow socialism a foothold in this country, we don't deserve any country or flag at all. We defecate on graves of our founding fathers if we allow the filth and poison of socialism any more that a passing feeling of revulsion.

Those poor Scandinavians who are so happy with their countries are stupid? Have you interviewed any, or been there? America has a lot to learn from countries like Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden. Look up the happiest countries.@puck61

Finland is a "Nordic country" you are right but its like the others and and we consider it ours and Scandinavian. Its voted as number one I believe for happy people this year, or last. And it's just like the rest of Scandinavia, believe in helping everyone, social services for everyone. happy everyone. In America the most wealthy country there are homeless and that's just wrong. There is plenty of money for everyone, except some are greedy and don't care about others, they exploit in business, and they want less taxes, and less Government.

I believe the word you are looking for is Fennoscandia.
