Why do some people believe Socialism is the way forward when it has never worked?

That is what Europeans believe yup! We believe that we should take care of the poor, feed the hungry, and house the homeless. And Colleges, and healthcare should be free, yup! And transportation should be very cheap and no one should be discriminated against if they are blind or handicapped and can't buy a car so transportation is very efficient. Yup! And this is how it is in most of the countries on the list of happiest countries in the world. Look it up!@meJess

In capitalism wealth is stolen from rich, middle class and poor by keeping them misinformed .....using wits, lawyers, law, and fear thru the law... insurance, medication, food and drug admin, communications .... it’s scandelous... but lucky for us we don’t know everything.ignorance is bliss. It’s too bad it’s not used on creating more effective use of everything...were so far behind because of greed for power. @AgapeLove NO.. NO.. NO>>! State control of production is Communism. Socialism is state provision of the basics of life from taxation of those how are employed and consuming. Such as Health education and infrastructure. Including Police Fire and other First response services.

An active, well regulated Capitalist production and private enterprise system, backed up by a government controlled set of services run for the good of the citizens as a whole is a healthy hybrid system and works just fine everywhere the government keeps the business sector , honest , ethical and paying reasonable taxes. NONE of that is currently true in America and has got you were you are today. SCREWED and with a megalomaniac used car salesman in the White house.

In spite of your own lack of understanding of what Socialism actually is, you claim that I can't be bothered to find the definition of what it is? Taxes to get funding for the basic needs of the populace is not, and never had been a part of Socialism, so please before slagging people off, learn what Socialism is yourself, infact what you mentioned, taxes for health and education comes under Social Welfare (typically intended for poorer citizens), not Socialism.
