So i know politics is littered with national emergency threads at the moment but i'm still interested to know:
For those who think trump has made a good, wise and justified decision here, why do you think it was a good, wise and justified decision?
How do you feel about a president using a national emergency to bypass congress in order to achieve his political aims? Would you be happy if a democratic president did the same?

This is the right decision because democrats are very very stupid people. It is a fact that illegal immigrants kill Americans every year. It’s a fact that drugs come across the border. Human trafficking and rape is real. People with just a little common sense knows this is a real emergency. So because I’m smart I agree with it
Anyone that can tell me children and women being sold for sex. Illegals killing Americans and drugs coming across the border isn’t a emergency there flat out stupid! Try telling a mother that lost there child to a illegal this isn’t a emergency @Pikachu
So then you'd agree that gun violence is also an emergency.
But i don't feel that you've fully supported your argument. Yes, sometimes illegals are killing americans. Drugs are coming over too. What makes it an emergency now?
So I’ll answer your question with a question.. so guns in some cases is a emergency. When a shooter goes into a school and kills children that’s a emergency. I think we both agree on that. In this situation you’d have to be careful how to deal with it. Wouldn’t a national emergency on guns possibly trigger a civil war? I mean if you go taking guns away it could create a larger emergency correct?@Pikachu
I don't know and i don't think that's a relevant question. "What are the consequences of declaring a national emergency" has no bearing on whether or not it's an emergency.
And i'm not talking about an individual instance. Of course that's an emergency. I'm talking about gun violence in america in general. Is that an emergency? If not, why not?
You keep answering the question "are there specific cases of emergency." I'm not asking you if there are specific cases that are emergencies because that has an obvious answer.
The levels of gun violence and mass shootings in america: is that an emergency, yes or no? If not, why not?
Sorry, it was misleading because you insisted on saying "in some cases" rather than acknowledging the general problem.
So given that borer crossings are on the decline while mass shootings are increasing and the people getting killed by an illegal are far, far fewer than those being killed by gun violence, how do we justify calling a national emergency to build what will be an ineffective wall rather than dealing with the larger problem?
Would you agree that it is more politically motivated than necessity-based?

Source? Effective at what?
Correct me if i'm wrong, but the main thrust of this "emergency" is, as you say, criminals, drugs and sex trafficking. Well it turns out that most of that is not going to be much impeded by a wall. Illegals tend to come in more often just by overstaying their visas or misrepresenting their intentions for coming into the country. Same with sex trafficked women. Drugs are coming in on planes, trucks and boats or even being shot right over a wall. So how is a wall going to significantly (and it must be significant for billions of dollars and a national emergency), reduce the rates of these issues?
One reason I voted for Trump is because of the wall. Today he did all he can do. Just he waited to long to do it. But I’m glad he finally did it @SimplyTracie
I’m in South Carolina. But let me ask you this question. Is it ok for tax dollars to go towards providing welfare for illegal people in a since that’s a emergency as well!@SimplyTracie
