@WoodyAq It is entirely possible that Obama presided over the last years of our democracy. We are in the process of finding out just how far a dictator can go when supported by party drones.

@windinhishair It could be that celebrity presidents are ephemeral, and the damaging will be contained to the (substantial) damage he's doing in real time.

In that case, Americans' short attention spans might actually work for us.

@WoodyAq I'd like to think that the damage will be limited and contained, but you now have 35% of the voting population that doesn't accept science, math, or facts, and does what they are told. That's terrifying. You even saw Senator Grassley going nuts because people are complaining about their refunds, as if that is all the taxes they pay. But when you denigrate math and science and promote the lack of education as a good thing, this is what you get with a poorly-educated populace.

I was told back in '96 that I will see the last legally elected President in the US, in my lifetime, I never forgot it and thought when W. was pres. that was it! And W. was just practice.
