Happy Valentines Day Nancy Pelosi! I had to fake finger shoot you again today. Wish you would stay dead.

Urghh!!! Manufactured crisis. What a freaking nit.

Cheer up. Trump should have a better chance at getting a wall built with the courts then he ever did playing shutdowns with Congress. Federal Judges are appointed for life, and can do what they think is right without regard to perceived voter sentiment.

@MistyCee Yes...but Mistycee...(sob!)...why won't she stay dead? Seriously, they'll send it to the Ninth Circuit, and you know what always happens there.
@4meAndyou Trump always hires all the best people and they might figure out how to get more executive friendly judges. I'd suggest the 5th Circuit, for example, which might even be willing to kick stuff upstairs immediately so that Trump can get a win before his first term is up.

And, keep in mind, while I agree with Nancy that this would be terrible precedent, once the Court says Trump can do it over the border, he can declare other emergencies to avoid other Constitutional impediments, like, say, having an election in 2020 because of a prospective massive voter fraud emergency, or shutting down Congress and Mueller because of the Deep State emergency.

I'm hoping I'm only joking about this stuff, obviously.

@MistyCee Wow. Me too. And I don't mean hashtag. If he did something like that, I think the limitations would have to be written extremely carefully.
@4meAndyou LOL. Limitations, huh? Like, "Only Trump gets to declare himself President for life?"
4meAndyou · F
@MistyCee Now, now. But they really do have to think about setting a precedent in law and protect us from abuse in the future.
@4meAndyou "They" should. Conservatives, IMO, should want to retain checks and balances and limit things that could cause radical and destabilizing changes.

I've no desire to see what AOC might want to do without limitations if she were to get elected.

@MistyCee I think it is intensely important to abide by the Constitution of the United States.
@4meAndyou I have a feeling we're going to hear an awful lot about the Constitution in the next couple of months, between this and legislative oversight.
4meAndyou · F
@MistyCee And so we should. I am beginning to wonder if I am a Constitutionalist at heart. I do feel upset when anyone plays fast and loose with it, because without it and the guidelines that have made us who we are, we are just another nothing country.
@4meAndyou Well, we're living in interesting times as far as the Constitution goes, that's for sure.

Reddressing Roe and Heller may be minor compared to other issues in the next couple of years like separation of powers between all three branches and even between the feds and the states.

@MistyCee It seems as though the rabid quest for unbridled power within Congress, the DOJ most particularly, and the little kings in their little kingdoms is doing it's level best to rip us stem from stern.
@4meAndyou I so wish I could see your face when you typed that sentence. I bet you were grinning.
4meAndyou · F
@MistyCee Grimacing and gritting my teeth is more like it. I absolutely hate Congress, the DOJ is a giant suck, and state governors are experts in egomaniacal mismanagement.
@4meAndyou Sorry about that. Look at it this way, if Trump wins here, he won't really need much from Congress from here on out, and the same emergency rationale could apply to subverting state sovereignty as well. Having a Supreme Ruler isn't my cup of tea, but if that's what you want, this is the best first step towards it.
4meAndyou · F
@MistyCee I don't want a Supreme Ruler, but I would like to send all the a-holes in Congress and in State governments AND in the DOJ to Jurassic Park and coat them with fresh blood. 😂
