Clearly there is something about Alexadria Ocasio-Cortez that I don’t know

I don’t follow American politics closely enough to know her as well as you will. Other than ‘blah, socialists’, what is it about her you don’t like? I genuinely want to know, I don’t want to be on the wrong side here

She doesn't seem serious and she just wants the spotlight on her.
Her policy ideas sound like an 8th grader thought them up.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@FreeSpirit1 Policies that every other industrialized nation in the world has adapted to.

So in other words, all those countries more successful than the United States must be run by 8th graders.

@BlueMetalChick Read through her Green New Deal. It's pie in the sky.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@FreeSpirit1 Funny that, China's managed to do almost everything proposed in the GND. It's saved them a lot of money and networked them with a bunch of other East Asian countries so now they're raking in profits off of the patents they set for green technology. But fuck that shit. We don't need to be making money while simultaneously helping our environment. What a stupid idea.

And furthermore, look at everything else on her policy platform. Nationalized healthcare, funding infrastructure, raising corporate taxation, adding marginal tax rates on people who make over ten million dollars per year, banning the privatization of prisons, and so on. These are things that literally every single other industrialized country in the world has done to an extremely positive effect.

@BlueMetalChick which country has become carbon neutral?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@FreeSpirit1 "Carbon neutral" is kind of a weird head fake because that term means something different to law than it does to you and me. Being below a certain line of emissions is defined by government as being "carbon neutral". Finland was the first to hit that desired low mark.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@BlueMetalChick When did that happen?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@FreeSpirit1 As in, when did Finland achieve that status or when were the qualifications for being considered carbon neutral get agreed upon?
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@BlueMetalChick when did they reach the level of being a carbon neutral country?
Her New Deal proposal is totally pie in the sky, not a serious well thought out proposal. If you think it is serious then we will just have to agree to disagree.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@FreeSpirit1 Well, the obvious question then is if you think it's so unrealistic to do things like nationalize the healthcare industry or stop invading other countries that haven't attacked us or providing weapons and money to jihadists and terror states so that they can commit genocide, then how are so many other countries able to do it? It can't be impossible because the entire developed world besides us has done it. So why can't we?

If you feel that we can, but SHOULDN'T, that's an entirely separate conversation.

And, I believe Finland reached that status sometime around late 2014, or that's what the UN said.
