President Trump didn't come from the Republican ranks. He was never a Republican his whole life, in fact, was registered as a Democrat through most of it. So when you ask if he's the best "they have," many Republicans would directly remind you that he is not one. 🤷♀️
@JP1119 Well I'll let you debate Bernie's Democrat-ness with him. He is the one who claims not to be a Democrat.
No, I never said anything resembling that Roberts is always right. Where did that come from?
If conservatism were the prevailing philosophy, we would not today have SCOTUS-enforced marriage equality in the land. That decision defines, more than any other, the line between conservatism and constitutionalism.
@sarabee1995 So because a majority on the Supreme Court is not homophobic, it must be fair and ideologically neutral? Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that corporations are people. Citizens United is a clear example of the Court pushing a neoconservative agenda. It’s basically neoconservative with occasional lapses of sanity. Enough with this “constitutionalist” bullshit.
@JP1119 The legal treatment of a corporation as a person was not invented with Citizens United v FEC. This legal principle goes back to the early 1800's in the US and even earlier in British Common Law. This is the same legal principle that allows corporations to sue and be sued.
Citizen's United was not a popular decision, but please tell me what you find legally at fault with it? Not politically, but legally? What flaw do you see in the Court's decision process? From what I read, and although I disagree with the decision morally, it is legally sound.
And in Obergefell v. Hodges, the Court's decision was, again, based on sound constitutional principles. The Court held that you cannot offer legal marriage to one pair of individuals and not to another based solely on their genders. The Equal Protection clause of the 14th Amendment prohibits such discrimination. Being homophobic or not being homophobic had nothing to do with the decision.
Both decisions with Chief Justice Roberts with the majority. One very much pleased his conservative friends, one very much displeased the same group. If Roberts were a conservative ideologue these opinions would be inconsistent. But both decisions are 100% in line with being a constitutionalist.
@JP1119 Let’s just suppose (for a moment) that Trump did do this thing, okay? What kinda jobs are they doing? Were these guys all trained and ready to go as soon as Trump gave these companies tax relief? I highly doubt it but I would like my questions answered.
What kinda jobs are they doing? Are they earning a decent wage?
I’d like someone who has benefited from Trump’s job policy to answer my questions. Please.
@SimplyTracie Your questions are valid, but why should we even suppose that Trump did do this thing in the first place? You’re giving him too much credit. He inherited a great economy from Obama and hasn’t completely succeeded in ruining it yet, that’s why blacks and Hispanics have gotten so many jobs since he became President. As usual, Trump was born on third base and his supporters are crowing about how great it is that he hit a triple.
@JP1119 Because I want to know what’s he bragging about. I want to know. It doesn’t matter who should be given credit. What kinda jobs (all of a sudden) was created since he became president?

He's likely the worst they have, but it's normal the incumbent walks on and they won't dare change that as they know the one who challenged the status quo won them the last election. I only hope they lose
The Republicans have a decision to make at the time. The factors are these. How many Republican voters are Trump rusted on, and how many will go with the party? How many Republicans will stay home as the Democrats did with Hillary last time? How much mud from Mueller will stick to Trump in time for the Primaries? And how bad will the employment and economic numbers get by then? (There seems to be little doubt the shine is coming off.) Most Republican party members tolerate Trump at best for his voting block. Thats why he is pushing the lines that got him elected where he can. If they crunch the numbers and decide he is a nett liability they will not hesitate to throw him under a bus. Politics is a heartless business.
Regardless of who decides to challenge him, I don’t think there’s a viable possibility to for trump not to become the incumbent candidate. The closest we got was 1976 with reagan almost overtaking Ford.
@ThatCommieChick Someone like John Hickenlooper could beat Trump. Someone that hasn’t had much publicity and hasn’t yet been given a nickname by Trump.
To answer your question and not get off into the weeds about what Trump is or isn’t ... No . As many Senators have learned , Trump’s coattails got them re-elected , and no other Republican could have pulled that off in this day and age . No current Republican can withstand the constant daily shit storm of slanders and attacks the libs continue to throw at Trump.
