It would appear trump just got tough on Russia and Putin. By suspending the nuclear pact. Now America will ramp up nuclear production and eventually pass Russia. Smart move by Trump

Trump is moving all the pieces on the chess board at the moment. I hear that Russia and China pulled their investments out of Venezuela in the face of Trump's sanctions.

Trump knows what he’s doing he always has@hippyjoe1955
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@marriedplus3 Yes his action is in stark contrast to Obama's reaction.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 @marriedplus3 come on guys......nuclear weapons should be abolished. It's bizarre how cluster grenades and white phosphorous are deemed illegal but you're advocating more and updated nuclear weapons. It's craziness
marriedplus3 · 36-40, M
Your right they should be. But because other countries have them. We have to have them as well for our protection @gol979
gol979 · 41-45, M
@marriedplus3 so we shouldn't have them but you're lauding a policy that proliferates them.....it makes no sense?
marriedplus3 · 36-40, M
I’m saying if Russia have them. Then we must have them. It’s about ability to defend are selves @gol979
gol979 · 41-45, M
@marriedplus3 but surely it's counter to what you said that you want. wouldn't you rather trump said to the other nuclear states that we should work together to achieve a safer world and wind down or at least don't make the nuclear weapons more efficient at spreading mass murder that continues for generations?

But instead we have got the world's most frightening military we have ever seen ramping up their capabilities to.literally destroy the planet, in context of current lifeforms
marriedplus3 · 36-40, M
Your right but do you think other countries would even consider denuclearizing. No they wouldn’t that’s why we must have them to@gol979
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@gol979 If you want peace prepare for war. If you want war prepare for peace. Disarming or letting your weapons become obsolete will result in war far faster than keeping your weapons up to date.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@marriedplus3 how can you say that? That conversation isn't allowed in the lexicon of normal discourse. To stand on a platform of denuclearization you would have the majority of the public on your side......including the other countries
marriedplus3 · 36-40, M
I highly doubt it @gol979
gol979 · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 that's Orwellian dude and makes no sense.
We are talking about removing nukes from the arsenal of murder machines, not stopping beloved war......there are rules to war
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@gol979 I don't suppose you have noticed the lack of major conflict since 1945.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@marriedplus3 better to try that than to put ourselves closer to extinction by our own decisions
marriedplus3 · 36-40, M
We only use our weapons out of self defense @gol979
gol979 · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 and you put that down to nukes?? The doomsday clock was the closest it's been to midnight (bye bye world) post 1945, there is perpetual war (18 years and counting in afghanistan) and why are the military budgets so bloody high if we live in these peaceful times? You won't advocate for a lower military budget would you?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@gol979 The doomsday clock is obviously broken. It has been stuck there for decades. lol
gol979 · 41-45, M
@marriedplus3 that's absolute garbage. If that was the case then America wouldn't have fired a single bullet since the 2nd world war. It's not defence it's pure offence
gol979 · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 yes, I thought it maybe the doomsday clock that's broken
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@gol979 I remember when I was a kid and the doomsday clock was at 1 minute to midnight. After 50 years at 1 minute to midnight the prognostication is obviously wrong. Being armed prevents war not makes war.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 you should probably look into how the time is set before you go.throwing around a very confident opinion based on personal anecdote.

"Being armed prevents war not makes war"
"Bombs of peace"
"Laser like accuracy of cluster grenades"
"War is peace"
"Department of defence"

It is all bullshit marketing to make mass state sanctioned murder palatable
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@gol979 So how many world wars have there been since 1945?
gol979 · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 again, marketing. War is war. There has been pretty much constant war since the 2nd world war
