Occasionally we hear rumblings that Texas and/or California want to secede from the nation. How do you feel about this idea?

I don't think California wants to secede it is more like a lot of people want to get rid of them.

@Subsumedpat There are several groups organizing to attempt to secede, plus a few that want to split California into two or three states.

@istillhaveanameitsrick No one in California takes it seriously, though, tbh. I live in California, and it's literally seen as a joke. At least splitting California would make sense, since different parts of it have different interests. Agriculture, technology, hollywood.

@SW-User The problem with splitting up California is that you end up with a mega-wealthy state, a middling state, and an impoverisehed statelet.

@jackjjackson The chunk that has the Bay Area in it is going to be rolling in money. SoCal (LA and company) is going to be okayish. Poorer but ok.

The rural/agrarian leftovers, central valley, etc are simply fucked.

@jackjjackson Utah would be challenging. Nevada or Arizona could work, I suppose. Not sure why they’d want to, but sure.
