MPs vote to NOT extend the no-deal Brexit deadline.

We Brits prefer to shoot ourselves in the head than to kill ourselves slowly with poison. 馃し

Longer this fiasco goes on i think May and co are trying to run the clock down, extend article 50, draw out an endless debate......belatedly, and ultimately throw it back to the country where only 20% of folk will bother to turn out for another referendum and hope they can carry a Remain outcome.

Gerald Kaufman finally has a Tory version of 'The longest suicide note in history'.

@Picklebobble2 lets walk away no deal, we will survive , then let eu decide then what they want to do and save us 39 billion

@Nyloncapes That 拢39bn. is the key, for me.
Seems absolutely no point in paying it if it means our poorest suffer as a result of a bungled exit.

Or alternatively ask the EU the question:"What exactly are we buying for our money ?"

Doubtless they'll say it's for future things we already agreed to prior to Brexit.
Well i can't speak for anyone else, but I didn't agree to paying it !

@Picklebobble2 as eu said to us if you leave the club you dont get the benefits , same with 拢39 billion , and its been made clear and by legal people we dont have to pay a penny, i didnt agree to paying it either

@Nyloncapes When one considers.....How many years of 'Austerity' have we been in ?
Hospitals at breaking point. Largest number of retirees all living longer and requiring more care for longer.
The number of big company collapses since '08 throwing how many out of work ?

Foodbanks for Christ's sake !!!

Yeah, thank you. Return our money and we'll be on our way !

@Picklebobble2 the 拢39billon is actually us just paying up for the planned activities through to end of current EU budget cycle.... Like Horizon 2020 and infrastructure projects and, if we get the deal, we still benefit from those ourselves where applicable. Much university research funding comes from Horizon 2020 losing that instantly on March 29th then UK government would need to pay it anyway, they've promised it.
Essentially the deal gives us single market and custom union access for bear two years which seems not unreasonable for us to pay what we promised to do before the referendum was even considered ie back before Cameron won the 2015 election

@SW-User Can't justify spending that in Europe when a sizable number at home are being told they have to wait weeks for benefits they're entitled to because the government are 'rolling out a new benefits policy' as a result of trying to save money.

@Picklebobble2 I don't think the austerity of this government or appalling implementation of UC are Brexit or the EU's fault. The Conservatives used the financial crash to bring in punative benefit reforms that they wanted regardless.

@Picklebobble2 BTW I suspect the cost for brexit we spend internally will far out strip the 39 billion. Your argument is more fuel to actually scrap it and stay in the EU we'd be much better of in the short term
Picklebobble256-60, M
@SW-User There are no 'good' endings to this in the short term at least. Basically because we have such ineffectual politicians here at home trying to deal with folk who can't afford to lose in the EU.

@Picklebobble2 that is very true
