Should the West get involved in Venezuela?

First up, I don't support the Maduro Government. They are corrupt and dictatorial. Their economic management since Chavez died has been a disaster. The opposition though is awful, perhaps more awful. The anti-government forces are funded by Oligarchs and have launched a coup before. They also employ violence and have been waging a slow-burn civil war against the regime for a long time.

This is not about democracy or human rights but about oil. It's just like virtually other US intervention in Latin America. Trump was meant to be a non-interventionist President. John Bolton's appointment would suggest that he makes Hillary look like a dove. Other Nato countries, including my native UK, are sadly following that lead.

To sum up, the choice is between a regime and oligarchs? The poor Venezuelan citizens.
