Should Ireland leave the EU and join the UK?

Of course it shouldn't and it's a ridiculous question but that is what an Irish Minister was asked by the BBC. 🤦‍♀️

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/jan/26/john-humphrys-suggests-ireland-could-quit-eu-and-join-uk

Its about the Irish border question and anchor John Humpreys thought a 'creative' solution would be if EIRE left EU regulations and became sub-servient to British ones.

Britain can't mandate another country to leave the EU, not least one which fought a war of independence againts our armies a hundred years ago.

92% of Irish people told a poll that they want to stay part of the EU. probably about 0,001% of Irish people have any desire to re-join Brexit Britain.

No Northern Ireland should stay in the eu

@EmeraldOdinelle I don't think that is tenable either because of the unionist community.

@Burnley123 I agree

@EmeraldOdinelle Especially as a majority of the N.I. population voted to Remain. Probably precisely because they realised the implications on the border of them leaving.

You have to wonder if things would be different if Theresa May wasn't reliant on the DUP's votes to stay in power...

@EmeraldOdinelle

Sinn Féin used this opportunity to call for a Northern Ireland referendum on a united Ireland?

Sound like a good idea to me.
