Brexit explained in simple terms:

David Cameron made a promise he didn't think he'd have to keep to have a referendum he didn't think he would lose. Boris Johnson decided to back the side he didn't believe in because he didn't think it would win. Then Gove, who said he wouldn't run, did, and Boris who said he would run, said he wouldn't, and Theresa May who didn't vote for Brexit got the job of making it happen. She called the election she said she wouldn't and lost the majority David Cameron hadn't expected to win in the first place. She triggered Article 50 when we didn't need to and said we would talk about trade at the same time as the divorce deal and the EU said they wouldn't so we didn't. People thought she wouldn't get the divorce settled but she did, but only by agreeing to separate arrangements for Northern Ireland when she had promised the DUP she wouldn't. Then the Cabinet agreed on a deal but they hadn't, and David Davis who was Brexit Secretary but wasn't said it wasn't what people had voted for and he couldn't support what he had just supported and left. Boris Johnson who hadn't left then wished that he had and did, but it was a bit late for that. Dominic Raab becomes the new Brexit secretary. People thought Theresa May wouldn't get a withdrawal agreement negotiated, but once she had they wished that she hadn't, because hardly anybody liked it whether they wanted to leave or not. Jacob Rees-Mogg kept threatening a vote of no confidence in her but not enough people were confident enough people would not have confidence in her to confidently call a no-confidence vote. Dominic Raab said he hadn't really been Brexit Secretary either and resigned, and somebody else took the job but it probably isn't worth remembering who they are as they're not really doing the job either as Olly Robbins is. Then she said she would call a vote and didn't, that she wouldn't release some legal advice but had to, that she would get some concessions but didn't, and got cross that Juncker was calling her nebulous when he wasn't but probably should have been. At some point Jacob Rees Mogg and others called a vote of no confidence in her, which she won by promising to leave, so she can stay. But they said she had really lost it and should go, at the same time as saying that people who voted Leave knew what they were voting for which they couldn't possibly have because we still don't know now, and that we should leave the vote to Leave vote alone but have no confidence in the no-confidence vote which won by more. The government also argued in court against us being able to say we didn't want to leave after all but it turned out we could. She named a date for the vote on her agreement which nobody expected to pass, while pretending that no deal which nobody wants is still possible (even though we know we can just say we are not leaving), and that we can't have a second referendum because having a democratic vote is undemocratic. And of course as expected she loses. Some people are talking about a managed no-deal which is not a deal but is not no-deal either.
Thank goodness for strong and stable government."

It wasn't my work but I wish it was. 🤣

Didn't something like 534-53 MPs vote for the referendum, Cameron's referendum was in their manifesto then the country voted and leave won and if it had not been a fix up and they voted in a remainer, we would have now had left with a good deal....the reason our country is in chaos is because those who voted remain, have left this country in a weak position.....we are still being stitched up..

@Platinum The whole situation is a clusterfuck that the expat 'we' don't have to worry about. Because patriotism and because immigration is bad. 😜

@Platinum Well, we were in a pickle before that. And for a long time before that !

The Conservatives like the idea of Europe.
But they like their idea of Europe !

And their idea of Europe was frictionless trade but with the borders/pound/no integration.....
This is why we've been at loggerheads with the Common market and now the E:U.

Tory politicians do not play well with others !

@Picklebobble2 i don't really trust any politician...

@Burnley123 I only asked a question, but if sarcasm is all you have as a reply I'm good with that...
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@Platinum can't wait till any election votes coming up and they start knocking on your door to ask for your vote, they will not like what I got to say
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Platinum You ARE an immigrant. I have no problem with that but apparently you do,
Platinum · M
I'm more English than you will ever be....if you don't understand what people mean by immigrant, it may be because you live in a hick town....@Burnley123
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Platinum Meeowww! The truth hurts. 🤣
Platinum · M
@Burnley123 a little stupid nerd from a poor little town up north, thinks he could hurt me...that is so funny...
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Platinum I've lived in London and Manchester for pretty much my entire life but thanks for showing your cosmopolitan elitism. I'm proud of where I'm from.

The Malaga orange-tan man votes to take back control because he hates immigrants, even though he quite literally is one. I won't insult your intelligence by saying you miss the irony. You are subconsciously aware of the irony an that is why you are angry.

See what a drip you are, I'm sitting here having a laugh and wondering why I'm talking to a stupid boy...but never mind I know I'm getting to you, which amuses me...@Burnley123

@Platinum Yeaaaah 🤣. OK mate, explain to me again the difference between an ex-pat and an immigrant.

🍿
Platinum · M
Why nerdy, we have not been compering them, try telling me why we should remain with facts not words like disaster...I was an expat for five years and my son is one....@Burnley123
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Platinum polish immigrants I know would say the same, just without the obvious hypocrisy.
Platinum · M
But the difference between me and poles, is I went to another country with money and I bought a business and I paid taxes and put something into the country, most poles I know and it's a lot have come here and took English jobs just because they work cheaper....now answer my question..@Burnley123
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Platinum I'm not being sarcastic when I say that I'm not sure what your question is. I read a lot of insults but no question marks.
Platinum · M
I asked you to explain why you voted remain and answer with facts....I've never said we should stop immigration, I just want controlled borders and only those who come here to add something to our country, it's costing us over 4 billion in benefits every year and this needs to stop..@Burnley123
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Platinum We've talked about this loads and I've explained loads. I have pinned posts about Brexit which are fact-filled.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/eu-workers-uk-tax-treasury-brexit-migrants-british-citizens-a8542506.html

OK then. EU migrants contribute more than the takeaway. They are relatively young, work and use relatively few benefits.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@Platinum I think you, me and everybody who voted leave , were not against immigration , but wanted as you say controlled immigration, and people to contribute who come here
Platinum · M
You cannot use that as a reason to allow millions in because some work and pay tax and as many sponge off us, your figures don't include the 4000 in prisons who are costing million or those who are raping our women and those spending everyday stealing..you can forget about why you want to remain, I'm used to not getting sensible replies...I'm off to bed...have a good night...@Burnley123
Platinum · M
@Nyloncapes there is nothing wrong with wanting that, even remainers should want the same thing...
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Platinum
4000 in prisons

A tiny number gave the percentage. They claim fewer benefits than the average person. BTW. I know you have not read the article I posted.

raping our women

Alt-right conspiracy theory.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@Platinum think anyone with any ounce of sense , would want it, we are a small country and can not keep taking hundreds of thousands every year, it is just common sense,
