This government shutdown has really shown how cold hearted some people in Washington can be towards those affected by the shutdown. With Kevin Hassett who is Trump's advisor suggesting in an interview on Thursday that the nearly 800,000 federal workers who aren’t getting paid are “better off” because they’re on an extended vacation.

That's not a vacation if you're struggling to pay for things such as rent, a house, bills, etc. I don't think Hassett or others in Washington would enjoy working with no pay.

All of the fed employees will get paid when the game is over. And Trump is just half of the game. The democrats are not even willing to negotiate.

How would you know?

Trump is not willing to negotiate in this situation. He wants a wall and only a wall. Anything else and he will not accept that, how is that negotiation?

@SW-User
He wants a wall and only a wall. how is that negotiation?
Trump at least comes to the table. Nancy and Chuck - not so much.
Trump has tossed out bargaining positions.
Nancy and Chuck - not so much.
Trump has concerns for the country's security.
Nancy and Chuck - not so much.
Trump has been steadfast on his position.
Nancy and Chuck - not so much.

@SW-User I have a friend that has been through two shut downs. They always get paid what they are owed. Just last week Trump asked Chuck and Nancy if he signed the bills to put people back to work, would they talk to him about border security? Nancy said NO. Who not willing to negotiate?

@Budwick

Trump storms out of a meeting with Pelosi and Chuck when Pelosi said no to funding his wall.
Trump has concerns about winning more than anything rather than wanting to protect the American people.
Trump has tossed out ideas for his wall and only his wall more than anything else.
jackson55 · M
@SW-User I saw the video, there was no storming out. He said then we nothing to talk about and got up and left. Don't Belive everything you hear in the media.

@SW-User
Trump storms out of a meeting with Pelosi and Chuck when Pelosi said no to funding his wall.
Why hang around?
Trump has shit to do.
Chuck and Nancy just have to be obstinate assholes.
Trump has concerns about winning more than anything rather than wanting to protect the American people.
When Trump wins on the wall thing - the American people win too.
Chuck and Nancy could actually benefit too - if they played their cards right - but that's not likely.
Trump has tossed out ideas for his wall and only his wall more than anything else
Border security was a keystone of Trumps campaign. Of course he tosses around ideas for the wall!
SW-User
@jackson55 Trump is not willing to do so. He wants 6.5 billion for the wall and only the wall. And if a person only wants one thing rather than thinking outside of the box then Trump is not a great negotiator as he stated. Stating that he would gladly shut down the government if he didn't get his way on national television.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@SW-User @jackson55 @Budwick trumpkins, pelosi, schumer. Different personalities but pretty much the same.......while the wall is a load of garbage trumpkins did show their hypocrisy by saying that a wall works in israel. No response/silence from the "caring" party.

These 3 people really couldn't give a shit about immigrants, it's just the "topic" that's been brought up so we have this faux dance to make us feel we are right and the other wrong.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@gol979 So I think I'm hearing, you don't really give a shit about the topic.

Thanks for sharing.
jackson55 · M
@gol979 Right, just let them all in. Other nations in the world have been ruined by internal corruption or uncontrolled immagration.

Why should Trump act like a boy with a tantrum?
When Trump wins on the wall thing - the American people win too.
The people who voted for him win, not the entire country. Even most Americans don't support Trump's wall. And would rather see that 6.5 billion dollars used for something else useful.
Border security was a keystone of Trumps campaign. Of course he tosses around ideas for the wall!
There is already border security. Trump makes it seem that there isn't and that a lot of illegals are entering into this country at a high rate and believes there should be a wall to stop that.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@jackson55 the wall isn't up and you seem to be ok, right?
And all I'm saying that these people couldn't give a shit about immigration or the wall. It's theatre

This quote is from Trump's Twitter post.
"Just left a meeting with Chuck and Nancy, a total waste of time. I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier? Nancy said, NO. I said bye-bye, nothing else works!"
Therefore he walked out.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User So, basically you don't have a valid answer.
You just want to resist Trump.

Thanks for your non-input.
SW-User
@Budwick And what invalid answer do you believe I have?
You just want to resist Trump
I don't have to agree with what a president is doing just to make you feel better.
jackson55 · M
@SW-User Did you agree with everything Obama did? The media circus thought the sun rised and set at his feet.
SW-User
@jackson55 I did not. The media treated Obama unfairly more than they have with Trump, to be honest.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User
The media treated Obama unfairly more than they have with Trump, to be honest.
Autumn - that statement is the definition of 'willful ignorance'.
jackson55 · M
@SW-User Then you didn't spend much time watching the news. During Obamas term it was 75% positive 25% negitive. So far with Trump it's been 92% negitive, 8% positive. Look it up for yourself. You don't like trump, that's ok with me. I didn't care for Obamas style much. The media didn't care for Regan, or either of the Bushes either. If you don't Belive there's bias in the media open your eyes.
SW-User
@Budwick The media decided to not broadcast Obama’s immigration speech back in 2014 because it was deemed “too political”. They decided to do so with Trump.

When Obama was elected, the media commented on Obama’s and Michelle’s fist bumb being a jab that islamic terrorist do.

Here is a comparison between how the media treated Trump vs. Obama

@jackson55 Actually I did. You didn’t though.
During Obama’s term it was a 75% positive 25% negative. So far with Trump it’s a 92% posite with a 8% negative
What does percentage have to do with how media treats a president? You guys try so hard to make Trump seem like the victim it’s funny.
jackson55 · M
@SW-User A victim? No. It's just media bias. The media is very liberal. Just watch CNN for 15 minutes.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User
What does percentage have to do with how media treats a president?
What part has you confused?

Oh wait - I see you've already changed JAckson's quote. Actually he said -
During Obamas term it was 75% positive 25% negitive. So far with Trump it's been 92% negitive, 8% positive.
Maybe you simply have an attention problem.
jackson55 · M
[@ Look at her age, probably a Bernie supporter.
SW-User
@jackson55 What does age have to do with anything? Stop being so ignorant.
