When will Republicans like Mitch McConnell go for country over party, forget Trump's wall and reopen the government?

@sunsporter1649 Yep, that's how Mitch McConnell operates, party over country for him. He won't even intervene even when Trump blocked a bill sent to him by this own party to end the government shutdown.

@SW-User Would it not be smarter to secure the border once and for all? Or do you prefer having the country flooded with undocumented democrats?

@sunsporter1649 Well no I don't know what that has to do with democrats though. But let us be real here, there is already border security. Do you prefer to listen to lies from Trump that there is no border security? If Trump would sit his fat butt down with both Democrats and Republicans and actually negotiate something reasonable to gain their support, instead of demanding money for a damn 2,000 mile long border wall, then this whole shutdown would end.

@SW-User Well lets see here. President Trump wants the border secured, and miss nancy was the border open to admit more undocumented democrats. I believe you democrats were hooting over the fact you said only 400,000 undocumented democrats crossed the border last year. Only 400,000! Sounds to me like the border is quite open to anyone that wants to take the stroll.

@sunsporter1649 If the border was indeed open, those 400,000 undocumented migrants would not have been caught at all by border patrol last year. And if the border was open, then the number of illegal crossings to the United States would have drastically increased rather than decreased in the years before Trump ever took office because......there would have not been any security at the border to stop these border crossings. In 1999 the number of illegal border crossings was 200K, since 2018 that number has gone down to 40.3K. Does that difference in numbers mean there is an open border?

And actually, Pelosi wants to fund border security, just not the border wall. Not supporting a border wall does not mean she does not support border security entirely. If Trump were to think outside of the box and offer a deal that would place a barrier in areas where it's needed, not this 2,000 miles of steel from one side of the nation to the next, she along with other Democrats would support it.

However Trump doesn't think that way and funding for border security is what Pelosi along with Schumer were negotiating with Trump who refused their offer and just wants $6.5 billion for a wall, so how does that signify that Pelosi wants open borders?

That is a terrible comparison to make. First off, a majority of us live behind walls. those walls aren’t 2,000 miles long though. But by your logic, since Trump lives behind a wall, (gates surround the whitehouse) does this mean he does not care about the rest of Americans?
