Should prisoners be able to vote?

Really? Why not, they're being punished for a crime, they should not have any rights!
They are punished by losing their rights to stay where they wish and eat where they wish and... making many other personal choices, but should not involve the suspension of their political rights.

@forevershorts: If they can't even make the easy decision to not commit crimes, they're not capable of making good decisions. Voting should certainly not be a permitted for prisoners.
But we have to be aware of a possible danger: Someone in power imprisons people who do not agree with them for building his or her own empire. Political rights have to be protected to prevent that to happen.

@forevershorts: In my country, the U.S. prisoners should not have the fight to vote.
I am not familiar with your country as much as I can comment whether it is valid or not. I am not qualified for that.

@forevershorts: It has been challenged before and the court has ruled it constitutional to deprive felons of their voting rights. They also lose their second amendment right. Bet that one doesn't bother 99.99 % of the ones who think they should be able to vote..
