Naw, you're bullshitting. Because even before people put words to it, they'd say things like, "Oh there's this type of guy, and that type of guy, and this kind of girl and that kind of girl." Such as the effeminate men and the tomboys. For example, in my world men don't complain nearly as much as you do.

@ItsGonnaBeOk In the possession of XX or XY, sure. But the social expectations of them are different. Even in centuries past, if a person more closely resembled something else, they'd be treated that way. A butch woman who does man work would often be treated as a man. You could say there are only 2 sexes, and only 2 genders with a wide range of personalities, but then you have to explain why people of a specific sex can end up being treated like a different gender because of their personality. The line is pretty blurry here, and some people just explain it by expanding the identity category of gender. And other people just don't like that they do that. Little has really changed, everyone's just freaking out about it now because the talking heads told them to.
