Just to start with...

1. We need a leader and a government that actually gives 2 fucks about it's citizens.
2. If you make more money, you pay more taxes.
3. Take some of the defense budget and actually put it towards healthcare and education.
4. NO MORE STUDENT LOANS- I would rather pay more in taxes so everyone has a chance to educate themselves.
5. END racism ( systematically and personally) - just because someone is darker/lighter than you doesn't make them superior.. we all bleed red.. stop hating and gain some perspective.
6. make weed legal... seriously how is alcohol legal and this isn't every where
7. Guns are fine but there needs to be stricter guns laws and the law actually needs to be enforced.
8. Make it so an apple doesn't cost more than a bag of chips.

I'm not sure where you are getting your information. No one wants the things you propose. However people do:

1. Want sensible border security to keep illegal immigrants to an absolute minimum, as well as programs aimed at improving life in countries that contribute to illegal immigration. Not an idiotic border wall symbol that costs much and accomplishes little.

2. Want a progressive tax code that allows the poor and middle class to keep more of their income, while eliminating tax breaks for millionaires so they pay their fair share of taxes.

3. Want to maintain the ability of people to own guns for self-protection and hunting, while instituting universal gun checks supported by close to 90% of the population and controlling certain types of assault weapons with no other purpose than to kill large numbers of people quickly and efficiently.

@Riverman I think many people, including politicians, do believe something similar. The rhetoric gets in the way on both sides. I think compromise may be more possible than we think.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Riverman He basically summarized the standard Democratic platform on these topics. It’s pretty much the official party platform. The stuff in your OP, though - that’s not coming from politicians or mainstream media. You got that from fringe sources who want to demonize their opponents.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@QuixoticSoul I have many right-wingers trying to tell me that I believe in completely open borders and taking their guns completely away. I have never said either one or even thought either one, but that doesn't stop them.

No, it's not, and who suggests it is? Humanitarian enforcement of immigration is not open borders. Assistance for those in need is not redistribution of wealth. Safe and sane gun regulation is not elimination of all arms. The world is not that black and white.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Well none of those will work. But that wont stop the Republicans claiming the other side wants to do it.
4meAndyou · F
1. Elimination of borders would result in increased lethal drug traffic, increased human trafficking and the influx of South American gangs who would take over. Violence would increase.

2. Redistribution of wealth would result in the mass exodus of business, which would destroy the economy. Poverty would result among 99% of the people in the United States when jobs were no longer available. The very young and the elderly would be put at extreme risk for hunger.

3. Guns would only be available to the gang members and criminals if #3 were implemented, which would create a society of unarmed sheep and armed wolves.

I don't know...it doesn't sound like anyplace where I would want to take my vacation.
That seems to be the plan, but I wouldn't call it a "Utopia". More like Dystopia

Yep, it's all in the handbook. Rules for Radicals by sol Alinsky. The one and the same that Hillary did her thesis on.

kittee · 22-25

GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@kittee No one is saying immigration has to stop. Illegal immigration is what has to stop.

Yess then all the criminals will have the guns ... I support my second amendment rights...
masterofyou · 70-79, M
But it's true....
Graylight · 51-55, F
@masterofyou Far from it.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@Graylight Yes far from it as most of the guns used during crime are illegally obtained ...
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
Why yes. Yes it is.

It's bigger than that.

What about gay weddings causing hurricanes?

Anyone like Isis, rapist, drug dealers, anarchists, murder.... I could go on...
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@masterofyou MS13 is 90%+ native born lmao. And it got started in the states.

Even conservative think tanks are forced to recognize the truth when they do the numbers - immigrant population, legal and illegal, is more law abiding than the native born. Just how it is.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@QuixoticSoul bull shit
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@masterofyou Nah, just the truth. It’s in the numbers.

https://www.cato.org/blog/white-houses-misleading-error-ridden-narrative-immigrants-crime

There are two pervasive distortions that seem bizarrely popular on the right. One is that of the criminal immigrant, and the other about them being a drain on our resources.

But that’s demonstrable nonsense. It doesn’t mean you have to support open borders or illegal immigration - but you can’t base your philosophy on bullshit. That’s just willful ignorance and an intellectual dead end.
