I'm not sure where you are getting your information. No one wants the things you propose. However people do:
1. Want sensible border security to keep illegal immigrants to an absolute minimum, as well as programs aimed at improving life in countries that contribute to illegal immigration. Not an idiotic border wall symbol that costs much and accomplishes little.
2. Want a progressive tax code that allows the poor and middle class to keep more of their income, while eliminating tax breaks for millionaires so they pay their fair share of taxes.
3. Want to maintain the ability of people to own guns for self-protection and hunting, while instituting universal gun checks supported by close to 90% of the population and controlling certain types of assault weapons with no other purpose than to kill large numbers of people quickly and efficiently.

@windinhishair You articulated that very well.
That may be your idea but that is not what I am hearing from politicians and mainstream media.

@Riverman I think many people, including politicians, do believe something similar. The rhetoric gets in the way on both sides. I think compromise may be more possible than we think.

@Riverman He basically summarized the standard Democratic platform on these topics. It’s pretty much the official party platform. The stuff in your OP, though - that’s not coming from politicians or mainstream media. You got that from fringe sources who want to demonize their opponents.

@QuixoticSoul I have many right-wingers trying to tell me that I believe in completely open borders and taking their guns completely away. I have never said either one or even thought either one, but that doesn't stop them.
