Based on reports there was no plan, he just one day demanded it and caught the pentagon off guard. But I have to disagree with it for three reasons,
1) Generally speaking I say let the pentagon handle these things and they seemed to dislike the move (possible for reason #2 and #3)
2) This potentially really hurts the Kurds who have been very helpful to the US, and it's basically an appeasement to Russia and Turkey (I don't like appeasement especially to countries I don't trust).
3) Trump said we defeated ISIS in Syria which EVERYONE is nicely saying BS too. They're clearly still there and fighting according to everyone else.
In theory it could save a lot of money, in reality those that money is probably still gonna be spent. But it is nice to get our soldiers out of harms way and in theory spend less money.
