@MethDozer is Venezuela Communism
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Mariocrespo8546 No. Venezuela is a collapsing capitalistic dictatorship.
Mariocrespo8546 · 31-35, M
@BlueMetalChick it use to be a beautiful country
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Mariocrespo8546 Geographically it still is. Just not culturally. Same goes for my own homeland.
Mariocrespo8546 · 31-35, M
@BlueMetalChick aren’t you gypsy
MethDozer · M
@Mariocrespo8546 No, it's a country that is currently controlled by socialist party through populist support.
It doesn't have Constitutionally mandated socialism or a one party rule.

BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Mariocrespo8546 Yes. Gypsies have no home country though. Not anymore.
MethDozer · M
@Mariocrespo8546 The socialist party is ruling and has instilled a socialist economy, but they aren't a socialist country. They can be voted out and the system changed. It isn't set in stone.
Mariocrespo8546 · 31-35, M
@BlueMetalChick can a Mexican be gypsy
Mariocrespo8546 · 31-35, M
@MethDozer Colombia is better than Venezuela
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer The socialist party is in power but it doesn't even really function as a socialist country anymore because the central government isn't subsidizing essential industries, as socialism is supposed to do. And the workers don't own the means of production either. Which is a really bad sign.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Mariocrespo8546 Well a Gypsy can live in Mexico, therefore making them Mexican by nationality.
MethDozer · M
@BlueMetalChick A capitalist country with basically no private property rights????? Hmmmmmmmm
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer Yeah that sounds pretty accurate. Venezuela is capitalist, but the socialist party is in power, and the people have neither strong property rights nor ownership of the means of production.
MethDozer · M
@BlueMetalChick Get off it. Socialism doesn't have to be Marxism/communism to be socialism. It isn't binary.
Mariocrespo8546 · 31-35, M
@BlueMetalChick you can also become citizen I’n another country Mexico is nice but they need to stop the drug cartels
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer It doesn't have to me Marxist, no, but there are criteria for a country to be socialist. Otherwise, the word wouldn't mean anything.
MethDozer · M
Mariocrespo8546 · 31-35, M
@BlueMetalChick I heard Venezuela was once a rich country
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer Yeah you said that before. I'm not sure what you're stabbing at. What does the lack of property rights in Venezuela have to do with the capitalist economy?
MethDozer · M
@BlueMetalChick It has meaning, and it isn't always about the workers having the means of production. That's Marx's take on it and Marxism.
Mariocrespo8546 · 31-35, M
@BlueMetalChick have you been to Venezuela it’s only 1 & 30 minutes from plane from Puerto Rico
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer If it isn't about the workers owning the means of production, and it isn't about the central government funding nationalized industries, then what IS the defining factor of socialism? Because there has to be one. You can't just say it's some vague ambiguous term with no central pillar.
MethDozer · M
@BlueMetalChick A core tenet of capitalism is right to private property.
It's a mixed economy that is leaning much more to socialism than capitalism at this time.

BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer Right, so if the core tenet of capitalism is the right to own private property, meaning any and all capitalistic systems require the right to own private property, then what is the core tenet of socialism?
