In a nutshell, what is going on with England?

Are they in or out of the EU?

We're currently in but it's causing something of a political 'civil war' at home.
A Prime Minister said he'd give the country the vote on whether to stay or leave and we voted leave.
That upset ALL the main political parties and they've been dancing around making it LOOK like we're leaving but not actually following through (If you believe some of the b/s spoken in Parliament)

In a nutshell. Folk are fed up with endless financial restraints from our own government, but their insistence that we continue to pay BILLIONS to the E:U.
So folk voted out in the hope that we'd get that money back and people here could breathe a little easier.

Turns out our OWN politicians lied to us !
And whether we leave or stay we STILL have to pay the E:U BILLIONS !
So now we're at an impasse.
NO leading political party wants to follow through and see us leave.
No UK citizen wants to have to endure another second of low pay/endless wait for benefit entitlement/poverty for pensioners.

If we were more of a radical nation, the scenes you see on the news in Paris just recently would be nothing compared to what folk here would be doing !
Politicians would be in fear of their lives before they opened their mouths !

@Picklebobble2 the juxtaposition between the UK and French.......France. After 18 months of neoliberal economic policies and a blatant transfer of wealth from poor to rich, the public protests, rightly so.
Uk. After voting the austerity bullshitters in and suffering way harsher economic policies than the french, we bloody vote them back in.....twice. 8 years of this gruel

@gol979 But the sad fact is you NEED an ALTERNATIVE. And for all their Sabre rattling, Labour don't seem to have any give-away-clues as to WHAT they WOULD do IF and it's a BIG if, they were ELECTED !
Folk are familiar with Tory austerity and Labour big debt-collecting-spending.
So with a country that's had 8+ years of tightened belts and STILL seeing the economy shrink,Labour AND the Lib.Dems (remember them ?)REALLY need to get their ALTERNATE thinking out there !

@Picklebobble2 austerity is an economic ideological choice. This government has borrowed more money than all the previous Labour governments combined......so people might be aware but it's pure spin.

The biggest difference is in state aid and a customs union.

@gol979 Do you know who the two biggest employers in the UK are today ?
Government departments and charities !
Says it all.

@Picklebobble2 I didn't know charities were up there.......but thinking about it makes perfect sense, unfortunately
