According to Marx socialism is only supposed to be the transitions state into a communist society. Under socialism the state uses it's power to socialise production and attempts to evenly distribute the gains. After some magical moment the people decide to live in economic equality and come together under communism which leads to a so-called stateless society where everything is done and decided communally.

The only problem is there is no rational way to expect such a system to.possibly exist without a strong and heavy handed central authority forcing such behavior. It ignores common sense and the drive for personal survival and strengthening.

@MethDozer I read earlier today that socialism in the past has also been an incubator for movements of the very far right, such as Facism.

@4meAndyou There's a lot of things to read out there. Much written by people who confuse correlations with causations.
But maybe there is a link. They are both extrem systems and extreme feeds off of extreme.

@MethDozer We were just talking about the Horseshoe theory on another question, yesterday.

@4meAndyou Horseshoe Theory has been proven over and over again. It's pretty solid.

@MethDozer @4meAndyou I would be a bit cautious about accepting it too much. The far left and far right become similar in that they revile the status quo, but do they actually become compatible with each other at some point?
MethDozer · M
@Xuan12 It isn't about being compatible nor does it say they are.
It just says that at the far fringes their methods and behaviour become very similar. They delve into them from a of being hostile to critical thinking, exchange of ideas, authoritarian/totalitarian, and hostile to any deviation. They both create similar societies with similar atrocities. Being compatible or comming to agreement on policies and issues isn't a part of of it or an issue. A major problem with the far right and far left is they are incompatible with anything and everything else. They are both just as incompatible with the far fringes as they are with everything in between.
