Communism is the theoretical classless egalitarian end-game of Marxism. I don't really have a good grasp on what specifically socialism is, tbh. I have a decent grasp of the policies of the socialist parties of various countries, but I don't know how to explain it easily. But I do know that Socialism does not necessarily require the Communist end-goal. The countries that were "Communist" were basically socialist as a stepping stone to communism, which they never reached.

That's my understanding of it.
