Tis true, just read an article yesterday where one of them died because of illness.
Do you remember if was about a 19 month old girl? I read one yesterday too, but am unable to locate it today. I posted on this thread as I see a potential health threat coupled with the hoped for lawsuits that may come too.@curiosi

@soar2newhighs It sounds like it, can't find it either. Something there the media doesn't want us to know.
Found it-here it is: https://www.independentsentinel.com/illegal-alien-sues-us-for-60-million-after-she-makes-horrible-choices/@curiosi

@soar2newhighs The baby caught it in a detention facility? Then depending on conditions there she may well have a valid claim.

Btw, that was not related to this caravan in any way.
@soar2newhighsJuarez is demanding a $60 million settlement from the US, [c=#BF0080]saying she will file a lawsuit if the government doesn’t settle her claim.[/c] Juarez’s attorney, R. Stanton Jones of the law firm Arnold & Porter, said the government has six months to respond to her claim.

You know what, I may be mistaken, re: the caravan but the key word here is "illegally", referring to her entry into the U.S. This placed her and her child in harm's way, and it's my belief that if the child was in care of an ICE facility she received adequate medical treatment. Keyword...ILLEGAL! You pay a price, intended or by circumstance. And did you read the attached link?@QuixoticSoul

Legal immigrants and [c=#BF0000]refugees[/c] must provide mandatory proof of vaccination for measles, mumps, rubella, polio, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, hepatitis A and B, rotavirus, meningococcus, chicken pox, pneumonia, and seasonal flu.

Traveling the distance they did walking 9 -12 hours a day in 95 degree humid conditions - soaked clothing from rain - they were bitten by ants while sleeping.
When they arrived the woman bathed with clothes on for privacy.

They lived and traveled in horrible conditions that I dont think I would survive let alone a baby of 19 months. You never know if the child had the disease at home or contracted it along the way nevertheless the child was taken and given medical care and I am sure they did the best they could.

It is unfortunate that these things happen but you dont take kids for a walk through Mexico the long way without some kind of fatigue that the immune system cant handle.

[big][c=#BF0080]So lady------ good luck with that settlement and asylum thing.[/c][/big]
Let the people (and I'm sure this was not spontaneous-the caravan) who urged, supported, may well have funded this caravan, to handle the medical needs of those they have obviously abandoned.

@soar2newhighs I read it. When you have someone in custody, you’re responsible for providing a certain level of medical care. It’s possible that it was provided, but it’s also possible that someone was negligent. And if the conditions directly lead to a fatality, that is also the responsibility of the government to prevent. The mom managed to sell the lawyers on it, they’re willing to take the gamble. Old fashioned capitalism.

Legal or illegal doesn’t matter, in that circumstance. Laws that cover this stuff do not make a distinction.

@MarmeeMarch You didn’t read the article. She didn’t catch anything that anyone can be vaccinated for. And it clearly happened in the detention center, not en-route - after two months in custody.

Looking at the CDC website it looks like there had to have been evaluations and immunization records that are on schedule similar to what he have here. You cant prevent deaths you can care for the sick and looking around it seems that this kid was sent to a couple of places to receive more intensive care.

The government did not neglect this child, they have all the documentation and medical records to prove that this child received medical attention in a timely manner. The plaintiffs have to prove that there was NO attention and or this child received attention that was below normal standards for anyone at this age.

And like I say - Good luck lady - proving malice or negligence against the treatment centers and hospitals that have all records locked in their computer system. Documented step by step.

I am going to call it like I see it - she sues for a ridiculous amount, of course the big law firm is rubbing their mitts together hoping to get half. But all she is really would settle for in my opinion is 250K and asylum. I would award her one ticket home on a bus.
