The United States of America is a racist country....true or false ? 馃嚭馃嚫

After last nights election, and the recent results in Georgia, and in Florida. It is obvious that the mental stronghold on certain segments of White America still have an impact that results in an unnecessary fear based on propaganda and division. It ain't that damn bad, ok. It could be worse. Do you agree, that the US is still to some degree a racist country.

The United States of America is the least racist country on the planet.
MissTaken36-40, F
@HoraceGreenley Is that why America had slavery and Jim Crow laws.
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@MissTaken I mean today. Besides slavery existed in many countries throughout history. Slavery still exists in many parts of the world today. There is no country in the world today that puts as muchtime, money and effort into stopping slavery around the world as the US.

People think this about the US because Americans spend so much time talking about racism. You don't hear about it in other places because talking about racism and slavery is suppressed.

Travel to other parts of the world and look closely. You'll see that i am right.
Zonuss41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley Yeah. We know racists like yourself will live in denial even if it means you failing badly. And you are.馃檪
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@Zonuss Maybe broaden your horizons and travel. Read about other countries. You will be surprised.
Zonuss41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley No I won't. I think you should learn more about what's going on around you. You clearly do not know this country as well as you think.
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@MissTaken Remember that you know more about America than other countries. Since you don't hear about things in other countries you assume that things like racism and slavery don't exist there.

That's perfectly reasonable.

Just remember that just because you don't hear about the bad things that happen in other countries doesn't mean they don't exist.

That's why we have the expression, "the grass is greener on the other side of the fence."
The United States of America is the least racist country on the planet.
so you agree that the US is a racist country.
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@Zonuss So you are advocating willful ignorance as a strategy for dealing with the world.

That's a new one.

You imply that the way to prove your point is through greater ignorance.

I've heard enough.
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@TurtlePink No. I agree that racism exists in the US.

I don't believe it is "systemic" or that it permeates society.
TurtlePink22-25, F
@HoraceGreenley well it does 馃槄 some people aren鈥檛 even willing to hire or give somebody a chance at a job because of their race. That鈥檚 systematic. Because if that person can鈥檛 get a job, how are they suppose to feed their family. It literally says it right here. Stop denying it

https://www.americanprogress.org/article/african-americans-face-systematic-obstacles-getting-good-jobs/
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@TurtlePink That is not systemic. That is a racist acting like one. These statistics don't address root causes. Just because Black Americans have higher unemployment than white Americans does not mean racism is to blame. There can be other reasons.
Oster1M
@MissTaken Let Another Government, take control of you!
TurtlePink22-25, F
@HoraceGreenley a racist acting like a systemic? Explain what the hell you mean
TurtlePink22-25, F
@HoraceGreenley explain what those other reasons can be. I really don鈥檛 know.
Zonuss41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley No. What we see is a very mentally incompetent and ravaged individual filled with contradictions obsessed with politics. And had a Gilligan Island avatar on SW. 馃槀
Oster1M
@Zonuss This is no way, to come together.
Slade56-60, M
@TurtlePink painful ignorance
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@TurtlePink Systemic means that something is built into the foundations of an organization.

An individual hiring manager may not higher someone for racial reasons. That's a racist. That doesn't mean the whole company is built on racism as a principle.

Just like an individual manager takes a bribe or sexually harasses someone. The organization is not based on sexual harassment for instance.

In other words the organization is not based on promoting these ideas.

If an organization was based on promoting these ideas, that would be sytemic or systematic.
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@Zonuss You're the one that is promoting ignorance.

My hands are tied. I can't help you.
Zonuss41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley Let's even the numbers of Blacks, Whites, and Hispanics in government. Then we will see. 馃檪
Slade56-60, M
@Zonuss quotas are everything! All hail frivilous ornamental appestances over any kind of ability or merit
Zonuss41-45, M
@Slade Quotas are not racist proof.
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@TurtlePink The most obvious reason is poor education. Black children don't perform as well in school as whires or Asians.

This is well known.

The most basic reason for this is socioeconomic. If you live in a poor area, you will have lousy schools.

Poor educational outcomes are directly correlated with lower lifetime earnings. This is true for all races.

The way to solve unemployment is by improving schools. American public schools are mediocre at best. It's embarrassing frankly.

This is why I am in favor of school choice and abolishing the teacher's union. For decades American public schools have punished all people of lower socioeconomic classes.

Decades of data support this.

I want everyone to succeed. To do so they need decent education.

If the delivery of education has failed, then its time to do something else.

The question you have to ask yourself is, why do the politicians I elect persist on sending children to bad schools?

One reason is the teacher's union. There are a lot of teachers and they get politicians elected.
Zonuss41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley Black Wall Street was a good example of how racist inbreds like yourself fear the progress of colored people. 馃
Slade56-60, M
@Zonuss That was your be all and end all. Any idea that any kind if discriminatory thought can be wiped out is painfully nieve and idiotic.

Racist is the most meaningless, eye-rolling term (even more than systemic 馃ぎ ) going.

Humans are hardwired to prefer people like themelves. It will never change. Stop pissing into the wind
